Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay is in London to wrap up Mikel Merino’s move to Arsenal.

The Gunners have been quiet in terms of incoming this summer as Riccardo Calafiori is the only fresh face at Arsenal so far.

Mikel Arteta, though, has been very keen to bring a new central midfielder before the window closes and he has set his eyes on one player.

Real Sociedad’s 28-year-old midfielder Merino is his top target and the north London side have been in talks with the La Liga team for a while now.

It was suggested recently that Arsenal are looking to Merino’s capture done as quickly as possible

Now according to Spanish journalist Yon Cuezva, Real Sociedad supremo Aperribay is in north London to finalise Merino’s switch to Arsenal.

It has been claimed that both sides have agreed to wrap up the Merino negotiations with a meeting.

Merino will sign either a four or a five-year contract at the Emirates and Arsenal will be looking to put him through medical in the coming days.
