Portsmouth are unlikely to secure a deal for the signature of Ipswich Town defender George Edmundson, according to BBC South.
Edmundson made just ten appearances in Ipswich’s promotion-winning campaign in the Championship last season and is surplus to requirements at Portman Road this summer.
Several clubs in the Championship are interested in signing the centre-back before the window closes on Friday.
Portsmouth are amongst the teams who are considering getting their hands on the former Rangers defender in the coming days.
The newly promoted Championship club’s chances of signing the Ipswich defender have not been completely ruled out yet.
However, it has been claimed that it is unlikely that Edmundson will be moving to Fratton Park in the next seven days.
There are other clubs who are pushing hard to sign the defender from Ipswich at this stage of the window.
Portsmouth are expected to focus on other targets as John Mousinho pushes to further strengthen his squad in the final week of the window.
