Oliver Glasner is yet to receive any assurances from Crystal Palace that Newcastle United target Marc Guehi will stay beyond Friday’s transfer deadline, according to the Chronicle.

Guehi has been Newcastle’s top defensive target this summer and the England defender is keen on the move to St. James’ Park.

However, negotiations with Palace have been tough as the Eagles have not budged an inch from their £70m valuation of the centre-back.

Guehi has been named the club captain and has started the first two Premier League games of the season for Crystal Palace.

However, it has been claimed that Palace head coach Glasner is still not sure that the club captain will be at Selhurst Park next season.

The Palace boss has not received any assurances from club hierarchy about the centre-back’s future at the South London outfit.

Newcastle are yet to give up their hopes of signing him despite having had four bids rejected by Crystal Palace.

The two clubs are claimed to be £5m apart but the real issue for the moment is the structure of the deals Newcastle have offered.

Palace chairman Steve Parish has been put off by the way Newcastle have tried to structure the deal.

The Eagles want a large chunk of the fee upfront and are not interested in too many add-ons.
