Saint-Etienne are interested in signing Sunderland midfielder Pierre Ekwah in the final three days of the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder joined Sunderland in January last year and has made 61 appearances for the club.
He has been an unused substitute in the first three Championship games of the season and is now attracting interest from France.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Ekwah has emerged as an option for Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
The club are in the market for a defensive midfielder and have been looking at several other players.
However, Ekwah is a player who is now being looked at as a potential recruit in the final days of the transfer window.
The Sunderland star is admired by the recruitment team and the club are weighing up tabling an offer for him soon.
It has been claimed that Sunderland are prepared to sell if they receive a fee in the region of €6m to €7m.
