Newcastle United are yet to resume talks with Burnley in their pursuit of goalkeeper James Trafford ahead of Friday’s deadline, according to The Athletic.

It emerged earlier this week that Newcastle have rekindled their interest in getting their hands on the young goalkeeper from Burnley.

The Magpies are eyeing signing him on an initial loan with an obligation to buy ahead of the end of the transfer window closing on Friday night.

However, it has been claimed that there are no new talks between the two clubs regarding the proposed move.

Newcastle have yet to resume conversations with Burnley about a deal to take Trafford to St. James’ Park this summer.

The Magpies have already signed two goalkeepers this summer but Trafford has continued to remain a target.

Newcastle could still reopen discussions with Burnley in their pursuit of the former Manchester City goalkeeper.

However, a goalkeeper would have to leave Newcastle before they could sign Trafford in the coming days.
