Southampton have failed with a bid for West Brom winger Tom Fellows with the Baggies keen to hold out for a big fee before agreeing to sell him, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The 21-year-old midfielder featured 33 times in the Championship last season and has started the first three games of the new campaign for West Brom.
However, he is being linked with a move to the Premier League with just days left in the transfer window.
Russell Martin is a fan of the midfielder and wants to take him to Southampton ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
However, West Brom were quick to reject a bid from the newly promoted Premier League side for Fellows.
The Saints’ £10m offer was deemed far too low for Fellows and well below the market value of a young player with potential.
There are other Premier League clubs who are also monitoring Fellows and could jump into the transfer mix in the next couple of days.
However, the Baggies are intending to hold out for a big fee despite the pressure of interest from clubs in the top flight of English football.
