A number of clubs are waiting to see if they can take advantage of Nottingham Forest’s failure to sign Santiago Gimenez.

Forest have been working overtime in a bid to sign the Mexico international from Feyenoord and agreed a fee with the Dutch side.

Gimenez has refused to move to the City Ground though, even with Nottingham Forest sending a delegation to the Netherlands to try to convince him.

Whether he has a rethink remains to be seen, but according to Mexican journalist Daniel Reyes Villasenor, there are clubs watching with interest.

A number of clubs are waiting to see whether they can take advantage of the situation and jump in for Gimenez.

He has been prolific in Dutch football for Feyenoord and it has been assumed he would leave De Kuip this summer.

Feyenoord are prepared to sell for the right price.

They also still have some time to replace him if needed as the window in the Netherlands is open until 2nd September.
