Southampton are eyeing making a late loan move for West Ham attacker Maxwel Cornet ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Cornet has been a bit part player at West Ham since his arrival and has not been part of their matchday squads at the start of the season.

He is one of the players the club are looking to move on before the window closes on Friday night to free up space on their wage bill.

The winger has options in the Premier League with clubs believed to be keen on signing him.

It has been claimed that Southampton are one of the clubs who are interested in taking him from the London Stadium.

Saints boss Russell Martin wants to bring in attacking reinforcements in the final 48 hours of the transfer.

Cornet has emerged as a viable option and Southampton are eyeing signing him on loan in the next two days.

The winger is also keen to move on from West Ham in search of regular first-team football.
