Celtic are closing in on a deal with Sheffield United for Auston Trusty but a final agreement is still being worked upon, according to Sky Sports News.

The Scottish champions are focused on bringing in a centre-back following the departures of Yuki Kobayashi and Gustaf Lagerbielke.

Trusty has emerged as a target and Celtic are pushing hard to take the Championship defender to Parkhead.

Sheffield United rejected their initial offer of £5m but Celtic refused to walk away from the deal and continued to hold talks with the Blades.

It has been claimed that the two clubs are now close to reaching an agreement over a fee.

Celtic and Sheffield United are negotiating a deal that could see Trusty move to Parkhead for a fee of £6m.

There are still issues to be sorted out and the two clubs are still finalising the terms of the deal.

However, there is optimism that Celtic will have their man in the building ahead of Friday night’s transfer deadline.
