West Brom have beaten off competition from Burnley for Celtic attacker Mikey Johnston after he chose the Baggies over the Clarets, according to talkSPORT.

Johnston spent the second half of last term on loan at West Brom and made a big impact, something which has led to substantial interest from the second tier this summer.

Sheffield United recently had a deal in place to sign the 25-year-old, but it collapsed.

Burnley and West Brom stepped in, agreeing a fee in the region of £3m with Celtic for the attacker.

The choice came down to Johnston to make and he has opted to go back to the Hawthorns with West Brom.

A familiar environment won the day for the Celtic star and he is set to sign for West Brom on a permanent deal.

Burnley will have to move on to other options.

Johnston will add to Carlos Corberan’s attacking options at the Hawthorns as West Brom try to mount another promotion push.
