Marseille have made progress on a deal to sign Neal Maupay from Everton, but it is too soon to consider the agreement closed.

Everton are keen to offload the striker before the window closes, with Sean Dyche counting on other options ahead of him.

Maupay wants the move to Marseille, despite having other options on the table.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have been holding talks with Everton to work out a deal, with the Toffees demanding a fee of €8m that Marseille are unwilling to reach.

Talks are taking place and, according to French magazine Le 10 Sport, real progress has been made.

It is though too soon to consider an agreement as having been reached.

With the clock ticking, Marseille and Everton will have to increase the pace of talks to make sure an agreement is in place soon.

Everton are unwilling to loan Maupay out, which Marseille would have favoured, and want a definitive sale.
