Everton are facing the threat of missing out on the signing of Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala, who is keen to join Fiorentina.

The Toffees have a deal in place to sign the midfielder on loan from Lyon with an option to buy later.

It emerged earlier today that Fiorentina are mounting an attempt to hijack the move but Everton have been reasonably confident of signing him.

Mangala is reportedly set to undergo a medical at Everton today but there is a fresh twist in the transfer saga.

According to Italian broadcaster Sky Italia, Fiorentina’s attempts to hijack the move are being fuelled by the player’s will.

The Frenchman has a clear preference for a move to Fiorentina over Everton at this stage of the window.

The Serie A outfit are holding talks with Lyon over a deal to sign him on loan with an option to buy.

Everton are still in the race and are convincing the Mangala but for now, his preference is Fiorentina.
