Newcastle United target Mohamed Simakan has not yet reached a final agreement to join Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.

The Magpies look set to miss out on signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace and are scrambling to look at alternative centre-backs.

A number of players are under consideration at St James’ Park and RB Leipzig defender Simakan is one of them.

RB Leipzig are prepared to sell Simakan and have been negotiating his departure to Saudi side Al Nassr.

The player has already drawn interest from the Premier League, where Arne Slot’s Liverpool looked at him to fill the gap that the departure of Joel Matip and Sepp ven den Berg has created.

Liverpool have yet to move for him, while neither have Newcastle, but the Magpies could still have an opportunity to do so.

Al Nassr are ‘pushing hard’ for Simakan, but according to Sky Deutschland, no final agreement is in place.

Simakan has not yet agreed on personal terms with the Saudi Pro League club.

Al Nassr are though the furthest along on a swoop to sign him and have until 2nd September to do so.
