Newcastle United are likely to run out of time to do a deal for the signature of Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, according to the Daily Mail.

With their summer-long chase for Marc Guehi ending in disappointment, Newcastle are desperate to do something big on the final day of the transfer window.

Newcastle are reportedly in talks with Nottingham Forest to secure a late deal to take Elanga to St. James’ Park in the final hours of the transfer window.

The club are claimed to be making rapid progress in negotiations but those suggestions have been played down.

Newcastle have made an approach for the Forest winger but they are unlikely to succeed in signing him.

With little time left in the window and the importance of the winger in the Nottingham Forest team, it seems likely that the East Midlands club will decline to sell him.

Given the late nature of the move, Newcastle are unlikely to have the time to secure a deal for Elanga’s signature.

It remains to be seen whether the Newcastle recruitment team can pull a rabbit out of the hat in the final hours of the window.
