Portsmouth are ‘aware’ that Ipswich Town centre-back George Edmundson is likely to head elsewhere on deadline day, according to the BBC’s Chris Wise.

Pompey boss John Mousinho has been alive to the possibility of making further additions before the window closes until January.

A defender is wanted and Edmundson has been Portsmouth’s top choice.

He is likely to move on from Ipswich before the window slams shut tonight, but he will not be heading to Fratton Park.

Portsmouth are ‘aware’ of the situation and have ‘moved on’ to other centre-back targets as they bid to strengthen the squad.

Former Rangers defender Edmundson is surplus to requirements at Portman Road.

He made just ten appearances in the Championship last season as Ipswich secured promotion to the Premier League.

Edmundson, 27, recently got on in the Premier League as a late substitute against Manchester City.

It remains to be seen where he ends up.
