Tom Cannon is heading to Stoke City for a medical after the Potters fought off the likes of Hull City and Sheffield United for him, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Leicester City have been ready to ship Cannon out this summer and have been looking to sell the former Everton man.

They recently switched and sanctioned a loan exit, with a host of sides in the Championship all keen to get their hands on Cannon.

Hull and Sheffield United have been pushing for Cannon, but it is Stoke who have won the race to take him on loan.

Cannon is now on his way to undergo a medical with the Potters.

Stoke will be looking to wrap the move up quickly given the ticking clock of transfer deadline day.

Beating off big competition for Cannon is a significant coup for Stoke and they will be keen for him to hit the ground running.

Cannon struggled with injuries and a lack of game time last season as Leicester won the Championship.
