Sunderland could still bring in another attacker before the transfer window closes tonight, according to the Athletic.

The Black Cats are doing business on deadline day, with midfielder Pierre Ekwah heading for Saint-Etienne on loan, while they are loaning in Bournemouth defender Chris Mepham.

Sunderland have been in the market to bring in attackers and, on deadline day, that has not changed.

The club could still make another attacking signing before the transfer window slams shut.

They have been keen on Caen striker Alexandre Mendy, but he is staying on at the French side.

Winger Ian Poveda joined earlier this summer, while Sunderland also got a move for forward Wilson Isidor over the line.

It remains to be seen what irons Sunderland still have in the final heading into the final hours of the summer transfer window.

The club will still be able to sign free agents after the window has closed if that is a route they choose to go down.
