West Ham’s hopes of signing Chelsea midfielder Carney Chaukwuemeka will come down to whether the Blues ‘let him leave’, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Hammers have made significant signings in the transfer window and are willing to add more quality to their side.

James Ward-Prowse is set to leave the Hammers to join Nottingham Forest on loan and they are in talks with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Carlos Soler.

However, Soler is not the only player on their shortlist as now they have identified another potential candidate.

It has been suggested that the Hammers are now showing interest in Chukwuemeka, who is also on the radar of Crystal Palace.

The English midfielder has four years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge but the Blues may be ready to loan him.

The former Aston Villa man is also looking for more game-time and a loan move by the end of the day could make sense.

Any move though depends on whether Chelsea ‘let him leave’ and the ball is firmly in the Blues’ court.

West Ham are trying though to push through an agreement.
