Fulham boss Marco Silva has attracted interest from Portuguese giants Benfica, but he is too expensive for them and does not want to leave the Cottagers, according to the Sun.

The Portuguese giants are currently sitting seventh in their domestic league and they are looking to appoint a new manager.

Previous Benfica boss Roger Schmidt was sacked last week after the side drew 1-1 against Moreirense.

Fulham boss Silva and former Wolves manager Bruno Lage were high on Benfica’s list to appoint as their new club boss.

Benfica are now set to appoint Lage as the new boss, with the cost of getting Silva too high, while he would need serious convincing.

The 47-year-old Portuguese has been managing the Cottagers since 2021 and has been able to establish them as a comfortable Premier League mid-table side.

He has had interest from all over the world but Fulham have been able to keep hold of him and now they have seen Benfica’s interest off as well.

Silva’s current contract at Fulham runs until the summer of 2026 and it has been suggested that he has no intention of leaving Craven Cottage at the moment.
