Former Millwall star Sam Parkin has admitted that the Lions seem to have a difficult season ahead, but pointed out that their statistics this season say otherwise.

Last season, Millwall finished 13th in the table and Neil Harris brought in fresh faces in the summer to strengthen the squad.

However, Millwall have had a difficult start to the season and have managed to win only one game out of their five in the league.

Parkin believes that Millwall are set to have another difficult season but pointed out that the Lions’ statistics regarding their XG and missed opportunities indicates a different outcome.

He also pointed out that Millwall’s style of play this season under Harris has been different than they have been historically and stressed that they have been one of the most creative sides in the division in the ongoing campaign.

When asked about whether he thinks Millwall are set for another difficult season, Parkin said on What The EFL: “Yes, it does feel like it will be a difficult season, but the numbers would suggest otherwise.

“I think this is something that has quite taken everyone by surprise.

“Millwall are arguably one of the most creative sides in the division at the moment and I think they are second in XG for most big chances, most big chances missed and they had a lot of shots and a lot of opportunities in the early part of the season, which goes against what they have been historically.”

Millwall lost against Luton Town at the weekend 1-0 and they are set to travel to Loftus Road on Saturday to take on Queens Park Rangers.
