Former Bristol City star Chris Honor has admits that he wants to see players in the Robins squad stand up against physical teams.

In the last two transfer windows, Bristol City boss Liam Manning focused on recruiting mainly young and talented players to assemble a squad capable of putting in a promotion challenge in the Championship.

On Wednesday, the Robins drew 0-0 against Sheffield Wednesday at Ashton Gate and their performance in the second half of that game has been an issue of dissatisfaction among fans and former players.

Honor thinks that the Bristol City players were rattled by Sheffield Wednesday’s physicality and struggled to keep up with them.

He stressed that at the second half they were bullied by the Owls players.

The ex-Robins star demanded that in the upcoming games some of the Bristol City players need to stand up to the challenges brought by the physical sides in their division.

“There was a physicality about the Wednesday team that kind of rattled City a little bit and when it became a little bit of a battle, I think we struggled”, Honor said on BBC Radio Bristol.

“When this bad weather turns and we have to travel up north to horrible places, there are not many in this league, is there?

“They are all fantastic stadiums, but when the weather changes and it is a real grind, I want to see some of these City players really stand up against some of these physical teams and I think in the second half we got bullied a little bit.”

Before going into the international break, Manning’s side will welcome Cardiff City at Ashton Gate on Sunday.
