Rangers boss Philippe Clement has tackled talk that the Gers are interested in a player who has just become a free agent and is on Leeds United’s radar.

Clement continued to reshape the Rangers squad over the course of the summer window, but was hamstrung by the club’s limited finances.

The Belgian tactician will likely want to do further business in the January transfer window and the free agent market could be attractive.

It is a market that now boasts former Rangers winger Ryan Kent, who has terminated his contract at Turkish side Fenerbahce.

The winger struggled to make any sort of impact in Turkey and after failing to win over new boss Jose Mourinho, has terminated his deal.

Leeds are claimed to be keen on Kent as a free agent and though Clement is not willing to declare his interest, he is clear he knows and rates the winger.

“Of course I know the player”, Clement told a press conference when asked about Kent.

“I’ve known him already for a long time because the moment he went to Rangers I was in talks with him to get him to [Club] Brugge. At that moment.

“But I think there was a better deal at Rangers in that way, so he chose for that.”

The winger is likely to be a hugely attractive target for a host of clubs when the January transfer window swings open for business, but suitors could try to put in the legwork on a deal now.
