Former Leeds United manager Simon Grayson has made a prediction about how Watford will do in the Championship this season after seeing them at close quarters at Elland Road.

Watford are in eighth place in the Championship table with 16 points from eleven games and are just two points off from the last playoff spot.

After a defeat against Luton Town at the weekend, Tom Cleverley’s side failed to bounce back to winning ways as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Leeds on Tuesday.

Former Leeds tactician Grayson watched closely and believes that Watford have strong and quick players in their squad with the experience of playing at a good level.

He is sure that Watford will not be far off come the end of the campaign.

Grayson also pointed out that some of the players in the Hornets squad have experience of playing in the Premier League and thinks that Watford will win a lot of games this season.

“Look, this Watford team are not going to be far away come the end of the season”, Grayson said on BBC Radio Leeds.

“They have some real strong, powerful, quick players who played at a really good level; some have played in the Premier League.

“They are going to win a lot of matches.”

Watford are set to welcome Blackburn Rovers to Vicarage Road on Saturday and they will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run at home by defeating the Ewood side.
