Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson has insisted that he knows where Crystal Palace Under-21s’ strengths lie and made it clear that the Posh know what they need to do.
The young Eagles have been a steady presence in the Premier League 2 this season as they are sitting seventh with only one loss so far.
In the EFL Trophy, though, they were beaten by Stevenage back in August, but the Eagles Under–21s registered a comfortable 3-1 win over Gillingham in late September.
Darren Powell’s side will face their EFL Trophy group leaders Peterborough tonight and Posh manager Ferguson admitted that the young Eagles have a lot of physical presence at the top end of the pitch.
Ferguson wants his side to advance in the competition as the group leaders and he is confident that they know what they need to do against Crystal Palace.
“We have watched Crystal Palace and they are a strong side in transition and they have a lot of physicality at the top end of the pitch”, Ferguson told Peterborough United’s in-house media.
“We know what we have to do, we want to progress as the group winners.
“Normally two wins would get you through, but we need to finish it off and I will pick a strong side to try and do that.”
The young Eagles will be keen to record a victory against Ferguson’s side tonight at the Abax Stadium to ensure their qualification to the next round of the EFL Trophy.
