Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery is of the opinion that his side’s Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund after the international break will be the “game of the year.”

The Bavarians, who defeated Augsburg 3-0 in their last Bundesliga game on Sunday to remain unbeaten in 37 consecutive league matches, thereby breaking Hamburg’s record, are currently top of the standings with 32 points from 12 games, a place and four points ahead of Dortmund.

And Ribery admitted that it could prove to be decisive if his side manage to beat BVB at the Westfalenstadion on 23rd October to carve out a seven-point gap between the clubs, despite it being early part of the season.

“It’s definitely the game of the year. I’m really looking forward to it”, he told the Bundesliga’s official site.

“If we win, we’ll be seven points ahead of BVB. That could prove decisive in the title race, even at this stage.”

The France international then discussed how Bayern Munich should play against Dortmund, who have already defeated his side this season when they won the German Super Cup 4-2.

“We'll have to be very patient, not rush things and take our chances”, he added.

“Most of all we can't give the ball away because Dortmund are so strong on the counter.”
