Aston Villa are one of a number of teams interested in FC Porto's out-of-favour midfielder Steven Defour, the player's agent has explained.

"There are also more teams that I cannot name. Unfortunately, in this period so much is said. You shouldn't expect news before 10th January. A lot of people who are involved in this business, after all, are still on holiday until that date."

"I've spoken to Steven. He is certainly open to a nice club, provided that he has more chance of playing.

"But he is certainly not unhappy at Porto, though he does want to play football in view of the World Cup."
