Mario Mandzukic has been crowned the Croatian Player of the Year for 2013.

The Bayern Munich hitman has reacted with delight at scooping the accolade, telling reporters: "This award is good for me and will motivate me to give the best of myself.

"My best moment is yet to come", he added.

Mandzukic beat Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric to the award, the former Tottenham Hotspur man coming second in the voting.

The 27-year-old has scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich so far this season, while he has also chipped in with two in the Champions League and three in the German Cup.

Mandzukic's future at the Bavarians has been placed in some doubt however following the club's signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski for next season.
