Former Manchester City and England full-back Danny Mills is sure that Robin van Persie is looking for the Manchester United exit door.

Van Persie played in his side's 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool yesterday, looking off the pace throughout and missing a number of opportunities.

There has been speculation all season that the Dutchman is not happy working under new Manchester United manager David Moyes, though he sought to stamp on that recently, insisting he is even prepared to sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

But for Mills, while Van Persie may be saying one thing, his body language is clear saying another.

The former defender told the BBC: "At Everton, David Moyes had a team, he didn't really have too many stars. To compete now at the very very top, to overtake Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool [he needs more top players].

"You need someone who's going to score you 20, 30 goals a season.

"Van Persie looks like he doesn't want to be there. He looks like he wants to leave.

"You look at his body language. He doesn't look happy there does he?"

Van Persie has scored just eleven goals in the Premier League so far this season, a mammoth 14 behind top scorer Luis Suarez.
