Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is hoping that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez falls 'ill' before the Black Cats make their trip to Anfield.

The Uruguay international has been in the form of his life this season, having scored 28 goals in 25 league matches and has also provided 11 equally important assists for his team-mates.

As far as Sunderland's form is concerned, there has been little to cheer in the league as the team fight relegation, being currently placed 18th in the league with 25 points.

Poyet and his men will therefore have a job on their hands as they prepare to take on second-placed Liverpool in the league tomorrow evening.

Showering praise on his fellow countryman, the 46-year-old feels Suarez has taken his game to a completely different level and it is going to be difficult to stop him.

"I saw him once in a summer friendly game. He was just starting, I think he was 17 or 18. He was a powerful striker playing on his own, but of course, not the player we are seeing today", Poyet was quoted as saying by ITV.

"To be honest, I wasn't even thinking he would be so good. He played a decent game, but now he is on another level.

"Now you can compare him with the top players in the world because he makes the difference somehow."

As far as his team's chances of stopping the striker are concerned, the former Uruguay international added: "It's going to be tough. I hope he gets ill tonight."
