Liverpool are planning to mark a Premier League title win by renaming sections of Anfield after members of the current squad.

The club's American owners believe if the Reds can end a 24-year wait for the English league title it should be marked in a special way which will not easily be forgotten.

Under consideration are proposals to rename stands at Anfield, the trophy cabinet and even, controversially, the stadium itself.

Liverpool's famous Kop would be officially known as "The SAS Stand", in recognition of the lethal striking partnership between Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez this season, while the Centenary Stand will become the "2014 Stand" to mark the title-winning year.

The Main Stand is slated to become the "Mignolet Stand" as Liverpool seek to honour Belgium goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, with one suggestion being to add the number of goals the former Sunderland man concedes to the stand name; if Liverpool were to concede no more league goals this season it would be known as the "Mignolet 39 Stand".

Liverpool do not intend to overshadow the three stands which seat only home fans by handing the Anfield Road Stand a more prestigious name and under the plans away fans will find themselves in the "Aspas Stand", named after striker Iago Aspas, who is well-regarded in the Liverpool dressing room due to his bench-warming ability.

However, the biggest change will see Anfield as a whole renamed "The Steven Gerrard Stadium", as Liverpool seek to salute their legendary captain and talisman.

Other proposals include the club's trophy cabinet being housed in the "Rodgers Room", named after boss Brendan Rodgers, the Main Stand's paddock area becoming the "Pascoe Paddock" after assistant boss Colin Pascoe, while the tunnel leading to the pitch will be known as the "Toure Tunnel" after defender Kolo Toure.
