Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood is hopeful that Emmanuel Adebayor will be fit to face Sunderland next Monday.

Adebayor has missed Spurs' last three matches with a hamstring injury followed by a cut to his heel. However, the former Arsenal hitman was at training this morning and Sherwood is optimistic about being able to call upon him for the clash against the Black Cats.

Sherwood told his club's site: "It's great to see him back out there.

"We'll continue to assess him as the week progresses and hopefully he'll then be back in contention against Sunderland.
