Aston Villa defender Aly Cissokho has admitted that his side’s fixture against Liverpool last weekend was a special match for him.

The Frenchman, who joined the Villans from Valencia this summer, spent the previous season on loan at Liverpool, but was unable to earn a permanent stay at Anfield.

Cissokho enjoyed a winning return to Anfield on Saturday as his side defeated the Reds 1-0 to move up to second spot in the Premier League with 10 points from four games.

And the left-back, who admitted that he felt “weird” at Anfield as an opposition player, however revealed that his main objective was to help Villa win at the ground.

"It was weird at Anfield in our last game. It was a special match because only a few months ago I was with them”, Cissokho explained to his club’s official site.
