Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola was pleased with his side’s performance against Shakhtar Donetsk last night, but admits that they should have scored to keep their noses in front in the tie.
The German champions were held to a 0-0 draw by Shakhtar in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie in Lviv.
Though the Bavarians did create a number of goalscoring opportunities, they failed to capitalise on them and also went a man down after Xabi Alonso picked up his second bookable offence in the 65th minute.
Guardiola was reasonably pleased with the performance of his side under difficult circumstances and believes Bayern Munich did well to smother the attacking threat of the home side in Lviv.
However, he did concede that the German champions should have scored and admits the tie is now tantalisingly poised as his side will definitely have to win their home leg at the Allianz Arena to get through to the quarter-finals of the competitions.
