Besiktas have agreed a deal to sign goalkeeper Victor Valdes from Manchester United, according to Turkish news outlet Futbol Arena.

Turkish giants such as Fenerbahce and Galatasaray were also in the running for the former Barcelona custodian, but it has been claimed that Besiktas have won the race.

They have an agreement in place with Manchester United for the signature of Valdes and have also managed to convince the player to move to Turkey this summer.

The 33-year-old is set to sign a two-year contract with the club, with an option for a third year and is soon expected to fly to Turkey to complete the move.

Valdes will be expected to become the first choice goalkeeper at Besiktas, replacing Tolga Zengin between the sticks.

The goalkeeper joined Manchester United on a free transfer in the January transfer window and following David de Gea’s injury, he stood between the sticks for the club towards the end of last season.

However, following a fall-out with Louis van Gaal, Valdes was frozen out of the first team picture and has been asked to leave the club this summer.

A move back to Spain with Valencia was mooted, but it seems Turkey is the next destination for the former Barcelona man.
