Leeds United fans can look forward to seeing their side in action during the next international break, head coach Steve Evans has revealed.

Evans chose not to give his players time off over the current international break and arranged a friendly away at Wycombe Wanderers last night.

787 Leeds fans made the journey to Adams Park and saw Leeds run out 2-0 winners through goals from Lee Erwin and Sam Byram.

The Whites produced a strong performance and would have been more comfortable winners had it not been for a series of inspired saves from the Wycombe goalkeeper, who notably denied Jordan Botaka and Erwin.

Evans, who believes the attendance would had been higher had the match not clashed with an England game, is aiming to repeat the trick by the time the next international break rolls around.

And he says the game will be closer to home for Leeds fans.

"We could have played a Friday afternoon against Wycombe at our training ground or come down here and played them in the afternoon and not let anyone around us", he said on LUTV.

"We didn't want that. We don't expect hundreds and thousands to travel from Leeds; they did!

"But for southern Leeds United fans it was an opportunity to come and see us and I was very humbled by what their manager said and what their chairman spoke about when we came here. They see it as a real honour for Leeds United to be here.

"We should do things like this. This is just a religion isn't it, Leeds United? This is a brand, a famous football club that people want to beat, people want to see and in the next international break we'll do something else.

"We may not make it on the same night that England play, for obvious reasons – Evans learned his lesson!

"But we'll certainly do it. We'll have a game and try and make it a little bit nearer home for the fans", Evans added.
