Sam Byram has been warned he must show his commitment to Leeds United by signing a new contract.
Whites head coach Steve Evans is desperate for the defender to put pen to paper and, following a chat with Byram and his representative, says talks have now restarted between the youngster's agent and the club.
Evans believes he will be in charge at Elland Road for the long term, trusting in the word of majority shareholder Massimo Cellino, and explained that he only wants players at the club who are committed to going on the journey with him.
The Scot, asked about Byram's situation, told a press conference: "I think Sam's agent and the people at the football club who get involved in these matters are talking. So we'll see where that goes.
"All I can do is bring those parties to the table, but as I've said to Sam, he has to be committed to the football club", he continued.

"How he gets committed to the football club can only be a contract extension. He has to do that because I only want players who are here for a period of time.
"I have to believe the president here, who tells me I'm here for a period of time.
"If that's true, which I believe it will be, then I have to say to Sam if you want to be a big part going forward then you have to be committed, like the other outstanding youngsters are."
Byram's current contract at Leeds expires next summer and the youngster has rejected attempts to extend it.
It remains to be seen whether Evans' urging the defender to commit his future to the Elland Road outfit will result in Byram putting pen to paper.
