Leeds United head coach Steve Evans believes that he has signed a Patrick Vieira-esque midfielder in the shape of Toumani Diagouraga.
The 28-year-old has moved to Leeds from fellow Championship side Brentford and put pen to paper on a contract at Elland Road running until the summer of 2018.
Scottish giants Rangers were also chasing Diagouraga and Evans is delighted to have won the race for a player he rates highly.
Evans, a boyhood Celtic fan, believes Leeds fans should expect to see a player in the mould of Arsenal legend Vieira, a leggy midfielder who bosses the centre of the park and is capable of going box to box.
Speaking to Scottish broadcaster STV, Evans explained: "We’ve got a boy who’s 6 foot 2, we’ve got a Patrick Vieira-type player.

"He brings real quality to our midfield."
And Evans feels that for the 28-year-old, signing for Leeds is a real honour.
"He's signed for a giant in English football", the Scot added.
Diagouraga had 18 months left to run on his contract at Brentford, but is now embarking upon a new adventure at Elland Road under Evans.
In a twist of fate, Leeds are due to visit Brentford for a midweek Championship fixture next week and it remains to be seen whether Diagouraga will quickly be thrust into action against his former club.
