Tottenham Hotspur legend Ossie Ardiles is expecting a tough test for Spurs at Manchester City on Sunday, but also believes that his former side have looked more comfortable on the road this season.

In what could define this season’s title race, Tottenham will take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Valentine’s Day, with an opportunity to further consolidate their position behind league leaders Leicester City.

Manchester City are coming into the game on the back of a loss to the Foxes last weekend, but they are only a point off Spurs and have the opportunity to leap frog the north Londoners at a very crucial juncture of the season.

Former Tottenham man Ardiles feels that despite Manchester City’s position in the table, Manuel Pellegrini’s men are still the team to beat in this season’s title race and he is expecting a tough away trip for Spurs on Sunday.

However, he also added that Mauricio Pochettino’s men have looked comfortable on the road this season, where the home teams have to go hard at them, and is confident that Spurs have the ability to get a result at the Etihad.

When asked whether he is expecting a goal-fest on Sunday between Spurs and Manchester City, the Tottenham legend told Spurs TV: “It could be.

“Two wonderful teams playing each other; from the beginning of the season I thought Manchester City were going to be the team to beat. I still feel that is going to be the case.

“But saying that Tottenham have been playing well away from home. Our boys prefer playing away from home as the other team have to come little bit harder [at us] and we are good at counter attacks.

“I would say we are much more solid than they are, and it is going to be a very tough game, but I am confident that we can get a result.”

Tottenham thrashed Manchester City earlier in the season when the latter visited White Hart Lane in September.
