Leeds United manager Steve Evans has explained why he believes Watford are a big club and why he is excited at the prospect of his side taking a trip to Vicarage Road on Saturday.

The Whites have been pitted against the Premier League outfit in the fifth round of the FA Cup, and Watford are massive favourites going into the game on Saturday.

Leeds overcame Bolton in the previous round, and Evans spoke about how he wanted to face a big club in the fifth round and the Scotsman feels he has got his wish in the form of Watford.

The 53-year-old believes the Hornets are a wonderful team, who were magnificent in the Championship last season to earn promotion to the Premier League, and under the tutelage of Quique Sanchez Flores have taken their game to the next level in the top tier this term.

He indicated that Leeds have their work cut out at Vicarage Road this Saturday owing to Watford’s home form, but insisted that he feels great pride in taking on the Hornets in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

When asked whether there is excitement in the air ahead of their Watford trip, the Leeds boss said on LUTV: “Oh absolutely!

“When we went through against Bolton, we said that we wanted a big club and we have got one.

“When I say we have got one, let me explain; [they were] magnificent in the Championship, I thought they were quite extraordinary at times. The front three, that triangle of players – Troy Deeney, [Odion] Ighalo and the boy who is at Reading, Matej Vydra.

“Concentrating on what we have faced, the team have improved from that under a coach that has come in, like a swan in the Premier League, working so hard behind the scenes.

"He has put together a squad of players who are ninth in the Premier League.

“They have only lost at Vicarage Road to the giants in the Premier League. So, I am looking forward to it with great pride.”

Leeds will be hoping to conduct a giant killing act on Saturday and progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
