Rangers manager Mark Warburton has hailed Michael O'Halloran as an "athlete", talking up the former St Johnstone forward.

O'Halloran impressed Warburton with his performance in Rangers' 1-0 win over St Mirren at the weekend, with the forward providing the assist for Harry Forrester to score the only goal of the game.

The winter transfer window signing will be desperate to keep his place in the team for tomorrow night's league fixture against Raith Rovers.

And Warburton admits that O'Halloran does still need to learn about Rangers' style of play.

Speaking at a press conference, Warburton said of O'Halloran: "He is an athlete and there is always an end product to what he does."

However, he added: "He still needs to learn how we play."

Warburton's side are a commanding eleven points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship table, but the Englishman is determined for his men not to look too far ahead.

"I'd like to look at the next ten games one game at a time.

"We know what our target is privately with ten games left."

Rangers are red hot favourites to clinch the Scottish Championship title, with Hibernian now trailing in their wake.
