Leeds United head coach Steve Evans admits that he laid into his players at half-time during their 3-2 win over Reading at Elland Road earlier today.

Evans’ men looked lacklustre during the first half against Brian McDermott’s side and Reading took advantage by going into the break one goal to the good courtesy of a Michael Hector goal in the 39th minute.

While Leeds came back roaring in the second half and Toumani Diagouraga equalised for the home side, Evans revealed that he didn’t hold himself back in the dressing room during the break, and was happy to see his players respond in a such a way.

Chris Wood gave the lead to Leeds for the first time in the game in the 69th minute, before Deniss Rakels levelled the scores in the 81st minute for Reading, but the New Zealander struck again for the Whites four minutes later to clinch the points.

The Scot told BBC Radio Leeds after the match: "I was quite hard with them at half time, then we got people further up the pitch near Chris and that worked for us.

"We feel particularly robbed about the equaliser but that's when you find out if you have character.

“We've been vocal today to get more drive and energy out of them and the young kids we brought on gave them some freshness."

Leeds moved up to 12th in the league table on 54 points and will next take on 14th placed Wolves at Elland Road on Tuesday night.
