Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino believes the Premier League is more competitive than La Liga.

The Argentine tactician coached in La Liga, taking charge of Espanyol between 2009 and 2012 in his first managerial assignment.




Pochettino took charge of Southampton in the Premier League in 2013, before his work earned him an approach from Tottenham in 2014. He has flourished at White Hart Lane, leading Spurs to a genuine title challenge this term and is ideally placed to comment on the differences between La Liga and the Premier League.

The Argentine believes that the Premier League is more competitive than La Liga, with Barcelona and Real Madrid on a different level to the other teams in Spain.
 


"There is more competition in the Premier League, for sure", Pochettino said on French radio station RMC.

"It shows in European competition", the Spurs boss added.

The competitive Premier League has resulted in Leicester City topping the table this term, while last season's champions Chelsea are mired in mid-table and look likely to fail to qualify for Europe.

In Spain, Barcelona lead the standings in La Liga, while Atletico Madrid are second and Real Madrid sit in third spot.
