Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho has insisted that the Reds are hungry to win trophies during the forhtcoming campaign.

The Reds, who witnessed a managerial change early last term, finished in eighth place in the league table, being well adrift of the battle for a top four spot.

The FA Cup was also a disappointment where they were knocked out in the fourth round after losing 2-1 to West Ham.

They did come close in the League Cup and the Europa League, reaching the final of both tournaments, but then losing to Manchester City and Sevilla respectively.

The Brazilian though does not want to reflect on the season with disappointment as he believes that the new season will provide them with the chance to rectify those mistakes as they hope to be serious challengers for silverware.

“I am confident for this season. I think everyone feels confident. Last season we had some opportunities but couldn’t take them", Coutinho told his club's official website.

“That has made us stronger and now we are hungry to win titles and to be able to fight.”

Coutinho was one of the brightest spots for the Liverpool team last season, going on to score 12 goals in 43 overall matches and set up seven more for his team-mates.
