Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has pencilled in next week as a potential comeback date for centre-back Toby Alderweireld.

The Belgian defender was carried off the pitch at the Hawthornes on a stretcher in the 60th minute of Spurs' Premier League draw with West Brom earlier this month and has been sidelined since.

He will miss Tuesday night's EFL Cup tie away at Liverpool and Pochettino says it is next week that he is targeting for the centre-back to return to the mix.

Asked in a press conference about when Alderweireld might be back, Pochettino answered: "We will see this week. We hope that maybe he will be available for next week.

"For sure tomorrow, he’s still out, but maybe available for next week", the Spurs boss added.
