Mohamed Salah’s former coach has not been surprised by the Liverpool forward’s recent performances, but admits that his growth at Anfield has been astonishing.

Jaime Alberto Pabon, a fitness trainer, worked with Salah for a period last season as his personal coach at Roma, but the arrangement did not continue when he moved to Liverpool in the summer.

The Egyptian has taken fans by surprise with his first season in the Premier League for Liverpool and has already won the PFA and FWA player of the year awards.

However, Pabon was not left surprised by Salah’s fortunes, but admits his performances at Liverpool have taken him to another level and he is now amongst the best in the world.

He feels at Roma he was doing well, but since moving to England last summer, Salah’s development has been astonishing and he wants him in the conversation for the Ballon d’Or next year.

“We worked very well at Roma, but he has grown exponentially in England.

“I will be cheering for him when it comes to the Ballon d’Or, but also for the World Cup.

“I want him to triumph.”
