Aberdeen legend Willie Miller has identified a realistic price for Celtic defensive target Scott McKenna.
The 21-year-old centre-back has emerged as Celtic’s key defensive target as Brendan Rodgers continues to push the club to land a centre-back before the end of the month.
Aberdeen have already rejected a bid worth £3.5m from the Scottish champions and are believed to have slapped an asking price of £10m on the young Scotland defender.
Miller believes Aberdeen were right to reject the first offer from Celtic, but believes every player has a price and at some point the Dons will have to make a difficult decision.
However, he indicated that the defender’s realistic price is less than the sum Aberdeen are demanding at the moment.
The Aberdeen legend told the Evening Express: “Aberdeen are in the right position to reject the offer.
“Having Scott on a longer-term contract and Scott’s point of view has been steadfast in that he’s not in any hurry to make a move.
“When you put those parts together, Aberdeen are right to hold on to Scott.
“But there’s always going to be a price where the deal is done.
“It’s not there at £3.5m, but I said way back it was between £4m and £5m he was worth and I haven’t changed my opinion.
“I think that’s realistic.”
The young defender broke into the Aberdeen senior squad last season and his rapid progress led to him signing a new long term contract until 2023 with the club.
