Liverpool attacker Xherdan Shaqiri thinks it is clear to see he is playing with confidence after he helped the Reds to crush Arsenal 5-1 at Anfield on Saturday evening.

Unai Emery's men took the lead at Anfield, but were then swept aside as they had no answer to a hat-trick from Roberto Firmino and goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Jurgen Klopp handed Shaqiri a start in the game and the attacker feels it is clear he is playing with confidence.

"I've got lots of confidence at the moment and you can see it on the pitch", Shaqiri said on LFC TV.

"I wanted to play from the beginning and I was very happy to play."

The Switzerland international admits that expectations at Anfield are now high, however he feels that has always been the case and has urged his team-mates to stay focused in their pursuit of the title.

"Expectations are always high, but we want to stay focused and work hard every day.

"There is a long way to go, but at the moment we are really happy and we hope we can keep going like this."

Shaqiri will be hoping to have done enough to earn another start when Liverpool head to the Etihad Stadium to lock horns with title rivals Manchester City on Thursday evening.
