The St James’ Park side are sitting just above the relegation zone in 17th in the table, but they have won just three of their last 15 games in the Premier League.

Bruce has struggled to win over sections of the Newcastle fans since he succeeded Rafael Benitez in the hot seat and is trying to drive the Magpies up the table.

There have been questions over whether Bruce will keep hold of his job, but the Newcastle boss insists resigning has not crossed his mind.

He insisted that he and his players are determined to fight on and he has faith in his players to make sure Newcastle stay in the Premier League at the end of the season.

Asked if he ever thought about walking away, the Newcastle manager said in a press conference: “Definitely not.

“I’m more determined than ever to and more importantly I think the players are as well.

“I have 100 per cent faith in them.

“I knew this was a tough gig, maybe it’s even tougher, but I’ll try my best to see we’re OK.”

Newcastle will be involved in a relegation six-pointer on Sunday when they will travel to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom.
