Celtic are in talks with Tottenham for the signature of the former Premier League winning goalkeeper this summer.

Vasilis Barkas did not impress last season and was again poor against FC Midtjylland in the first leg of Celtic’s second-round Champions League qualifier last week.

Celtic are in the market for a goalkeeper who could be their new number one next season and McManus stressed that Hart would be an excellent signing for the Glasgow giants.

He believes the 34-year-old has it in him to handle the pressure of being between the sticks for a club of Celtic’s size.

Hart has played just 13 times in the last two seasons but McManus insisted that despite his lack of games, Hart would still walk into the Celtic team as their first-choice goalkeeper.

McManus said on Twitter: “[He] would be an excellent signing for Celtic.

“Proven top-level international goalkeeper who would handle the pressure at Parkhead.

“Has been back up to some very good goalkeepers last few years thus probably lack of games but walks into the team at Celtic.”

Hart has a year left on his Tottenham contract and Spurs are open to selling him this summer.
