New Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou has been bolstering his squad with new additions across the board in the ongoing transfer window and a new striker is among his targets.

Celtic have zeroed in on VVV-Venlo man Giakoumakis and are claimed to have entered negotiations with him over a move to Parkhead, with Postecoglou even contacting him over the phone.

However, the Hoops are not the only club interested in snapping up the Greek as 2. Bundesliga side Werder Bremen are also keen on him.

It has emerged that Giakoumakis has visited Werder Bremen’s facilities as he weighs up his options, but his camp has confirmed the player is yet to take any decision on his future.

And Giakoumakis is demanding annual wages of €700,000 from his potential suitors.

Despite VVV-Venlo suffering relegation from the Eredivisie last term, Giakoumakis had a stellar campaign on a personal note, being the top scorer in the league.

It remains to be seen whether Celtic are prepared to match Giakoumakis’ wage demands and swoop for him in the coming days with less than two weeks remaining in the transfer window.
